Process for preventing contaminated water from entering water systems

The process for preventing contaminated water from entering water systems, including contamination from accidents and incidents, is essential to meeting the Sustainable Development Goal for Clean Water and Sanitation.

The processes for preventing contaminated water from entering water systems, including contamination from accidents and incidents at universities, include the following:

  • Identifying and assessing sources of contamination: Sources of contamination can include domestic wastewater, industrial wastewater, rainwater, and contamination from accidents and incidents.
  • Developing a prevention plan: The prevention plan should include specific measures, such as building separate wastewater drainage systems, planting trees, using manholes to collect wastewater, and regularly inspecting and maintaining water systems.
  • Implementing the prevention plan: The implementation of the prevention plan should be monitored and evaluated regularly to ensure effectiveness.

Văn Lang University implements the following measures to prevent contaminated water from entering water systems:

  • Building separate wastewater drainage systems for domestic and industrial wastewater.
  • Planting trees to prevent rainwater from carrying away pollutants.
  • Using manholes to collect wastewater to prevent waste from entering water systems.
  • Regularly inspecting and maintaining water systems to detect and promptly address incidents.

In addition, the University educates students about the importance of protecting clean water sources and preventing contaminated water from entering water systems. Students should be instructed on how to use clean water in a sustainable and efficient manner, as well as how to properly sort and dispose of waste.
