Industrial Design

The Industrial Design major constructs a process of encouraging creativity, orientating towards research and building product forms to optimize and meet the needs of the community day by day, thereby improving the quality of life.

Introduction

Industrial Design is a versatile major with many products such as machinery and tool products; information and entertainment technology products; household products and consumer goods; depending on the current trend of each country, the products are designed differently to suit the needs of customers. Students will develop an aesthetic mindset and creativity when they study in a modern environment that provides sufficient facilities for design. Faculty of Arts & Design - Van Lang University is one of the institutions with sufficient conditions and standards of academic staff, classrooms, and workshops to create Industrial Design painters who meet the new age's standards.

The Bachelor's degree program in Industrial Design (Product Design) provides learners with core university-level knowledge in product design, product services, problem identification and market analysis, to provide a socially oriented design solution.

Ability to analyze and process information

Learners have the ability to apply the principles and rules of styling design, and know how to handle the harmony of colors, cubes, and functionality between form and texture. Learners have skills in searching and researching for specialized information, analyzing and processing information, and have the capability of problem-solving.

Autonomy and responsibility competencies

Learners consciously use legitimate materials, images, and research works, respect the culture, regulations, processes, and confidentiality at enterprises, and have a sense of responsibility for work and always keep a humane spirit in the working environment.

Understanding the foundation of Vietnamese and World art

Learners have knowledge of product advertising and market demand analysis for each type of product and have skills in providing consultation on aesthetics & functions for household and industrial products.

Study Program

An academic year consists of 3 semesters, including 2 main semesters and 1 supplementary semester. Students register their study plan for each semester according to the detailed training plan of the major.

Students study general courses, basic tools and art courses to provide them with a foundation of knowledge as well as an understanding of the contemporary issues of the Industrial Design major.

“Learning by doing” - Learning through practice

This is the core of the major's training activities. Through the syllabus and the combination of lecture and demonstration teaching methods, we help students acquire, create, express and promote their abilities.

Evaluation methods

Evaluating through classroom/workshop/computer lab activities. Evaluating applied skills and knowledge in exercises (groups or individuals)/tests/examinations. Evaluating through essays, group presentations. Evaluating course projects.
