(VLU, 31/5/2023) - On May 28th and 30th, 2023, Van Lang University, in collaboration with the IIG Testing Center, organized the Microsoft Certified Educator (MCE) exam for lecturers and staff members to enhance their technical skills and foster innovative teaching and learning practices. As a result, 81 lecturers successfully passed the exam and obtained the MCE certification.
The Microsoft Certified Educator (MCE) exam is a valid and reliable assessment of the competencies required to apply technology skills in the context of teaching and learning. For education administrators, MCE represents a way to evaluate educator readiness and can help measure the effectiveness of professional development engagements. The MCE certification is globally recognized and has permanent value. Educators holding an MCE certification have the competencies to apply technology skills to the teaching and learning process, creating a richer learning experience for students and saving precious time.
Ms. Đinh Thi Lan Chi - a lecturer at the Language Institute, achieved the highest score on the exam (944/1000 points) and shared some experiences: "Lecturers should not put too much pressure on their exam results. Carefully review the provided reference materials available in both English and Vietnamese languages. Read and summarize the main content, do practice tests, and focus on different question types to familiarize with the formats and approaches to do the exams more efficiently.”
Mr. Chau Chan Hung, the Physical Education and Sports Center, shared: “Everyone felt a bit nervous when starting the test. Although there were some difficult questions, I was fortunate enough to finish the exam and meet my goals. During the review process, the Physical Education and Sports Center organized online classes for lecturers to apply the six application skills in their work. While preparing for the exams, the Sports and Physical Education Center held online sessions helping lecturers use the six skills for the exam.”
On May 28th and May 30th, at Van Lang University’s main campus and the IIG Testing Center, respectively, 81 well-prepared lecturers achieved a 100% success rate in obtaining the MCE certification in two exam sessions with support from the university.
Van Lang University aims to become a leading institution in integrating technology into education through Microsoft's Education Transformation Framework (ETF) which allows Van Lang University's faculty members and staff to access and apply new digital tools, spreading the spirit of "Equipped with skills - Ready to innovate" to the entire Van Lang community. The achievement of the MCE certification is a significant milestone for VLU lecturers, as it sets them on the path to becoming Microsoft Innovative Educator (MIE) Experts, which Microsoft selects annually in July to honor teachers and lecturers worldwide who demonstrate innovative activities in applying Microsoft tools to enhance teaching effectiveness while sharing, guiding, and spreading the spirit of innovation to their colleagues and professional networks.
