On March 22, 2025, the International Education Institute at Van Lang University hosted the seminar “Cyber Armor: A Crash Course in Protecting Your Digital Life and Privacy” to enhance students’ awareness of cybersecurity, helping them recognize common threats and equipping them with essential knowledge to safeguard themselves in the digital era.
The event was led by Mr. Le Phuoc Tho, MSc who is a cybersecurity analyst with academic backgrounds in Business Systems in Germany and Information Security in the Netherlands. During the seminar, the guest speaker introduced advanced security tools and strategies for balancing convenience and security.
According to Mr. Le Phuoc Tho, seemingly harmless habits may expose young individuals to cyber scams. The foremost principle in mitigating risks is to remain vigilant against enticing promotions or seemingly lucrative investment opportunities. When engaging with online services, users must calmly verify information before clicking on any links or downloading suspicious attachments.
Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of setting complex and unique passwords, using different passwords for various platforms, enabling two-factor authentication, storing passwords with dedicated management software, and logging out of all public devices after use.
The valuable insights shared in the seminar empower VLU’s students to proactively prevent common cybersecurity risks, master the balance between security and convenience, and utilize security tools effectively.
