Faculties of Health of Van Lang University provided medical examination and treatment for the Members of the Veterans Association in Ward 9, District 6 (Ho Chi Minh City).

On December 04, 2022, the Faculty of Nursing and Medical Technology, the Faculty of Pharmacy, and the Faculty of Medicine of Van Lang University organized a program to provide free medical examination and medication for over 200 retired military officers, demobilized soldiers, local armed forces, and families of youth fulfilling their military duty. The program was held at Hoang Le Kha Secondary School (381-393 Ben Phu Lam, Ward 9, District 6, Ho Chi Minh City).

The program was part of a series of healthcare activities for members of the Veterans Association in Ward 9, District 6, Ho Chi Minh City, contributing to the successful implementation of the 2022 theme of Ho Chi Minh City on "Adapting and controlling the COVID-19 pandemic safely, flexibly and effectively, enhancing the quality of urban government construction, improving the investment environment, and accompanying businesses."

Van Lang University provided free medication to patients

During the medical examination, Doctor Pham Van Son (MMed.), Doctor Pham Thi Viet Phuong (MMed.), Doctor Nguyen Quoc Hung (MMed.), Doctor Nguyen Thien Huong (MMed.), and Doctor Vo Van Thai were responsible for screening, prescribing medication, and providing treatment advice. Ms. Le Thi Trang (MMed.), Ms. Bui Thi Thuy Linh (MMEd.), and Pharmacist Nguyen Thi Kim Thuy were responsible for dispensing medication to the people. Ms. Le Thi Cuong Khanh (MMed.) and 10 students from the Faculty of Nursing and Medical Technology were responsible for measuring pulse, temperature, blood pressure, weight, etc. Doctors from the Department of Health Service conducted X-ray examinations at the mobile clinic.

As part of the program, doctors conducted blood glucose screening, chest X-rays, medical examinations, and provided advice for common conditions such as musculoskeletal disorders, cardiovascular diseases, high blood pressure, fatty liver, etc. The program not only took care of the health of the community and veteran members but also provided opportunities for students in the healthcare field to apply their knowledge acquired in classrooms through practical experience in serving the community and society.

Doctor Pham Thi Viet Phuong (MMed.), Head of the Subject of Internal Medicine - Pediatrics - Infectious Diseases, Faculty of Medicine at Van Lang University, shared: “As healthcare professionals, we always strive to bring healthcare opportunities to many people. The medical examination trips also provide valuable practical knowledge for students in the healthcare field at Van Lang University, giving them the chance to meet and work directly with patients and understand their responsibilities when pursuing a career in community health protection.”
