On September 22, 2024, the Faculty of Arts and Design proudly held the Furniture Design 2024 exhibition, displaying an impressive collection of projects by third-year Interior Design students from Van Lang University. Featuring nearly 150 pieces, the event received positive feedback from industry professionals for its creativity, artistic innovation, and functional design.
Furniture Design is part of the annual exhibition series organized by the Faculty of Arts and Design at Van Lang University. The event features participation from lecturers and business partners, notably An Cuong Wood Joint Stock Company and Blum Vietnam Co., Ltd. – long-time collaborators who support students in crafting full-scale, 1:1 product prototypes.
At the exhibition, Van Lang students unveiled refined, creative, and high-quality furniture designs. Guided by the principle of experiential learning, Furniture Design 2024 offered a golden opportunity for students to apply classroom theories to practical design solutions. The event also served as a platform for networking with industry professionals, fostering knowledge exchange. Through this, students gained valuable insights into customer and market trends, forming a solid foundation in their future careers.
Dr. Le Long Vinh, Head of the Interior Design Major, shared: “Furniture Design 2024 provides an opportunity for Interior Design students to bring their ideas to life and showcase their furniture design projects to the community and businesses. The event stands as a testament to the program's emphasis on applied academics. Throughout the education process, we focus not only on equipping students with professional knowledge but also on honing practical skills, ensuring they are confident in applying them to their future careers.”
Mr. Pham Chan Quang, Vice President of Hawa, Director of Tan Thanh Wood Company, and Head of the Hoa Mai Award Organizing Committee, shared his thoughts on the exhibition: “I am truly impressed by the talent and creativity of Van Lang students. You are a promising generation of students with the potential to further develop the Interior Design industry in Vietnam. With support from both the university and businesses during the applied learning programs, I believe you will achieve even greater accomplishments in the near future.”

The judging panel praised the diversity and intricacy of the furniture pieces displayed at the exhibition, from the ideas and themes to the arrangements. In addition to handcrafted products, the exhibition also featured high-end, modern designs that required advanced technical skills and the authors’ ability to oversee the construction process. Each design clearly showcased the talent, personality, and dedication of Van Lang’s Interior Design students throughout their creative journey.
Currently, the trend of focusing on sustainable solutions is gaining increasing attention worldwide. Interior design products not only aim for aesthetics but also strive to minimize their environmental impact. Furniture Design 2024 plays a crucial role in shaping the design mindset and style of Van Lang students, encouraging them to propose designs that are both artistic and positively impactful on society.
The products displayed at the exhibition are the result of a continuous process of learning, innovation, and holistic self-development. With guidance from the faculty, Van Lang students are gradually becoming talented interior designers, growing more confident and ready to shine.
