To equip students with practical knowledge on risk management and corporate social responsibility during the "Green Transition," the Faculty of Business Administration at Van Lang University organized a specialized workshop on "Green Transition - The Need for Risk Management and Corporate Responsibility" on the morning of November 3, 2024.
The workshop is a hands-on activity within the course modules “Corporate Social Responsibility and Business Ethics” and “Corporate Risk Management,” coordinated and taught by Dr. Truong Thi Ai Nhi. With the support of the lecturers, students had the valuable opportunity to learn directly from industry experts, including:
Throughout the green transition, sustainable development has become the primary goal of modern businesses. ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) serves as the framework for evaluating and measuring sustainable behavior, paving the way to a future that meets the expectations of investors, regulators, and consumers.
To fully seize this opportunity, businesses must proactively adjust their business strategies, integrate the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, and comply with ESG standards. Sharing his strategic vision, Mr. Bao Nguyen – Sustainable Development, ESG, and Communications Expert, Vice Chairman of Eurocham GGSC, Co-Chair of the ESG Task Force CCIFV, Co-founder of Green Transition – expressed his strong belief in the future generation of leaders, who will create a sustainable and prosperous business world.
In the scene of Vietnam's agricultural sector integrating and developing, GREENFEED has become a prime example of a long-term commitment to sustainable development. Mr. Nguyen Yen Phuc, CSR Program Manager of GREENFEED Vietnam Joint Stock Company, shared their passionate journey in contributing to the creation of valuable elements for the meals of the Vietnamese people. With the mission of establishing a healthy food chain "3F Plus" (Feed - Farm - Food - Plus), GREENFEED pioneers the application of international standards, ensuring food safety from farm to table. Beyond just improving product quality, GREENFEED focuses on sustainable development across its entire ecosystem, committing to community partnership and environmental protection. This journey affirms GREENFEED's leading position in creating a sustainable agricultural foundation, paving the way for a bright future for Vietnam's agricultural industry.
Sustainable development is currently a primary goal for businesses, but it also presents significant challenges, especially when facing critical risk management. During a seminar with students, Mr. Luong The Cuong, Head of Risk Management - ESG Consulting Services at PwC Vietnam, emphasized: "Risk management is not just about listing risks, but about culture and competence, which must be integrated into business strategies." To address the concerns surrounding risks in the green transition, Mr. Cuong stated that businesses should proactively develop sustainable strategies aligned with their business goals while remaining flexible to environmental changes: "Each business needs to choose a sustainable development path that aligns harmoniously with their overall business strategy," he affirmed.
Sharing the same viewpoint, Mr. Bao Nguyen – Sustainable Development, ESG, and Communications Expert, Vice Chairman of Eurocham GGSC, Co-Chair of the ESG Task Force CCIFV, Co-founder of Green Transition, stated, "The vision of leaders plays a crucial role in sustainable development strategies." He emphasized that without a strategic vision, businesses may face unforeseeable consequences.
Echoing this view, Dr. Truong Thi Ai Nhi – Lecturer at the Faculty of Business Administration emphasized that, alongside the leadership role, the unity of the entire team is also a key factor. In other words, sustainable development is a collective journey that requires the joint effort and commitment of all members within the organization.
The workshop affirms the importance of combining theory with practice, providing students with a comprehensive and deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities in modern business. It is hoped that with the knowledge and experience shared by the experts, the students from the Faculty of Business Administration will become future leaders who are both passionate and visionary, contributing to the development of a green and sustainable economy for Vietnam.
