On February 22, 2025, over 500 high school students and their parents participated in the Open Day 2025 event for the Health Sciences majors at Van Lang University. This event provided hands-on experiences and valuable career guidance regarding majors such as General Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Nursing, and Medical Laboratory Science.
In 2025, Van Lang University organized a series of Open Day events for different majors, including Arts & Design, Health Sciences, Tourism, and Engineering & Technology, welcoming students from Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces to explore diverse career paths.
The global healthcare sector is undergoing significant changes due to aging populations, pandemics, and chronic diseases, requiring a skilled workforce capable of mastering advanced medical technologies (artificial intelligence, big data, 3D printing, and genetic technology).
Proactively embracing these trends, Van Lang University has invested in health sciences for many years. The university is committed to offering training programs aligned with top 100-300 universities worldwide in health sciences, along with modern facilities modeled after hospital-school settings, including numerous laboratories, practice rooms, clinics, and a herbal garden. Notably, in October 2024, Van Lang University inaugurated the Medical Skills Training Center with advanced clinical simulation equipment featuring 370 medical practice models across 112 types and eight specialized fields, with an investment of millions of dollars.
Dr. Tran Ngoc Quang Phi, Head of the Health Sciences Department and Dean of the Dentistry Faculty, noted that current trends in medical education involve digital technology and AI. Van Lang University is a leading institution in digital dentistry training in Vietnam. In its curriculum, students regularly practice with digital scanning machines, simulate dental procedures using software like Prepcheck, intern and design dental frameworks using digital tools, practice digital dental impressions, create 3D-printed orthodontic appliances, and analyze films with AI-assisted software.
To support young people in choosing suitable majors, Van Lang University frequently organizes career guidance programs, offering practical experiences and valuable information about the educational environment. The Open Day 2025 event for Health Sciences was a vibrant showcase that helped students and parents understand more about the university's programs in General Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Nursing, and Medical Laboratory Science. Participants were able to explore modern, internationally accredited facilities and practice essential skills specific to each department:
At the Medical Skills Training Center, students had the opportunity to witness simulated clinical scenarios. Additionally, facilities like the X-ray Room, Simulation Room, Biochemistry Practice Room, Hematology Practice Room, Anatomy Practice Room, Preclinical Practice Room, Clinical Treatment Room, and Basic Nursing Practice Room impressed visitors with their advanced equipment.
Students were highly enthusiastic about their hands-on experiences at the Faculties of Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Nursing, and Medical Technology.
High school student Tran Le Phuong Nhi from Duong Van Thi High School in Thu Duc enthusiastically shared, "Open Day 2025 was so much fun! We got to listen to heart and lung sounds, interact with real medication samples, read patient records, observe cells, and learn how to create dental molds... There were so many cool things. The models were incredibly realistic, even breathing! Van Lang University also has a large swimming pool and a basketball court. The lecturers were friendly and enthusiastic."
After the practical experiences, students and parents had the opportunity to engage in in-depth consultations with the university's administration and deans of the Health Sciences Faculty. Dr. Vo Van Tuan, Vice President of the university, shared the latest information on admission methods and subject combinations for the Health Sciences. In 2025, Van Lang University will accept applications from February to May 31, 2025. The university encourages early registration to provide comprehensive counseling and guidance throughout the admission process.
Many insightful questions were raised about learning opportunities, career advancement paths, and differences between majors. The faculty praised the students' proactive spirit and early career orientation.
The students enthusiastically asked questions and received detailed responses from the teachers.
