"Journey of Rebirth - For a Green Vietnam": A workshop to raise awareness about plastic waste collection and recycling.

To raise awareness about waste collection and recycling, as well as foster the spirit of environmental protection among students.On October 24, 2024, Van Lang University, in collaboration with Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam and VietCycle, organized the workshop titled "Journey of Rebirth - For a Green Vietnam," which attracted a large number of students.

The workshop was graced by the presence of the VLU Administrators, the leadership from Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam, executives from Suntory Holdings of Japan, representatives from the University of Natural Resources and Environment under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, VietCycle, and nearly 300 students and pupils.

The issue of waste, particularly plastic waste, is becoming a significant challenge for many countries and communities. Raising awareness among the younger generation about environmental protection is a crucial factor in driving positive change.

The "Rebirth Journey - For a Green Vietnam" workshop is a part of that journey. Students at Van Lang University had the opportunity to learn about the current state of waste and their role in collectively addressing this issue. The workshop focused on guiding waste sorting and plastic waste treatment as well as encouraging sustainable lifestyles to reduce plastic waste and promote a circular economy.

Dr. Vo Van Tuan, Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of Van Lang University, delivered the opening speech.

On behalf of Van Lang University, Dr. Vo Van Tuan, Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice President, and Dean of the Faculty of Public Relations and Communications, shared: "Van Lang University is proud to be included for the first time in the 2024 THE Impact Rankings by Times Higher Education, recognizing the impact of educational institutions on global sustainable development. This is the result of collective effort, and we hope that the message of sustainability will continue to spread widely among our students, businesses, and society at large. Through this program, we hope our students will gain deeper insights into environmental issues, particularly plastic waste. I believe that with the unity and dedication of all of us, the young generation of Vietnam will continue to lead in environmental protection, paving the way for a greener, cleaner, and more sustainable future."

Mr. Do Thai Vuong, Deputy General Director of Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam, expressed his hope that in the future, Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam will continue to collaborate with Van Lang University to organize more environmental events.

Mr. Do Thai Vuong, Deputy General Director of Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam, expressed his appreciation for the collaboration with Van Lang University, a university that has always been a pioneer in prioritizing and promoting sustainable development. He also affirmed that this workshop would provide students with clearer guidance on environmental protection.

At the seminar, Mr. Hoang Duc Vuong - Chairman of VietCycle also shared his message with VLU students: "VietCycle carries the vision of “For a more civilized Vietnam without waste”, which is our aspiration for our country to become greener and more civilized. And it is you, the students - the future leaders of the nation - who will be the vanguard in realizing this aspiration."

The students had the opportunity to engage in direct discussions with the speakers about environmental issues at the workshop.
