Learning the secrets from entrepreneurs through the workshop "Startups - Local Beginnings, Global Mindset"

To reinforce the knowledge for the Entrepreneurship course, the Faculty of Public Relations - Communication, Van Lang University organized the workshop "Startups: Local Beginnings, Global Mindset" on November 3, 2024. The workshop served as a bridge between theory and practice, providing students of the Class 27 with the opportunity to hear experiences shared by successful experts and entrepreneurs.

The workshop gathered many reputable guests: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Huu Duc - Co-founder of BCC and Better Living, Mr. Nguyen Trung Dung - CEO of Dh Foods, Mr. Le Dinh Luc - CEO of DOL Dinh Luc English, and was hosted by PhD Candidate Le Anh Tu - Lecturer of the Faculty of Public Relations - Communication, and CEO of iGem Agency as well. The event created a lively learning atmosphere, attracting numerous lecturers of this faculty and over 1000 students from the Class 27 currently studying the "Entrepreneurship" course.

At the beginning of the program, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Huu Duc - Co-founder of BCC and Better Living, stated that: "local beginnings" and "global mindset" are two key factors for successful startups. He emphasized the importance of combining profound local knowledge with a global mindset. Mastering the geographical, cultural, and social context helps businesses identify their competitive strengths, while a global mindset will open up opportunities to reach out to the world. Harmonizing these two factors helps businesses build a strong foundation, ready to conquer international markets.

Following the program, Mr. Nguyen Trung Dung - CEO of Dh Foods, inspired the audience with his resilient startup story. Through four startups, from an international student with limited resources to the CEO of a globally loved Vietnamese spice brand, he proved that failure is not the end but valuable lessons for success. He always makes customer experiences a top priority, continuously improving product quality and service. Additionally, he also pays special attention to his staff, creating a friendly and professional working environment. "When starting a business, the most important thing is to truly love what you do." - This passion became the significant motivation that helped him overcome all difficulties and turn dreams into reality.

For Mr. Le Dinh Luc, startup was a long journey.

Mr. Le Dinh Luc - CEO of DOL Dinh Luc English, presented that: the startup journey has four stages: deciding to start a business at the age of 24, building products and core abilities in the first five years, scaling up, and finally reaching out to the international markets. He emphasized that: in order to succeed in startups, one needs not only ideas but also a deep understanding of unresolved market issues. From there, entrepreneurs identify the value they bring, create differentiation, and persistently strive every day for sustainable development. He added that: entrepreneurship is a long journey, requiring patience, adaptability, and continuous self-improvement, as well as team and product development to meet customer and market needs.

Roundtable discussions delved into solutions for small startups.

At the workshop, the roundtable discussions provided an opportunity for speakers and the audience to analyze, evaluate, and find solutions to common problems faced by small startups together, especially in the context of digital transformation. This was also an opportunity for students to ask questions to the three guests and discuss topics related to startups.
