Marketing Generators’ 4-year-Journey: Developing a High-quality Academic Playground for Marketing Students

On May 8, 2024, the Marketing Generators Season 4 competition officially concluded with students from Van Lang University emerging victorious. After 4 seasons, the competition has attracted a large number of students from both domestic and international universities, affirming its position as a prestigious playground and becoming a launch pad for the next generation of talented young marketers.

Marketing Generators was first organized in 2020 by the Faculty of Commerce of Van Lang University, aiming to create a healthy and high-quality academic playground for students passionate about Marketing, fostering creative thinking, and solving practical problems in the field of Marketing in particular and society in general.

Marketing Generators - impressive growth affirms the attraction of the playground

Starting as a playground for students in Ho Chi Minh City, Marketing Generators has made a significant breakthrough, reaching a national level and attracting a large number of contestants from 75 universities both domestically and internationally. The fourth season saw participation of over 2,000 students, demonstrating the appeal and influence of the competition.

Dr. Ngo Quang Trung - Vice President of Van Lang University, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce, Head of the Steering Committee, and "Spiritual Leader" of the Marketing Generators competition, said that the competition has received significant interest from many partners and experts in the field of Marketing.

"I am very proud that the scale of the competition has been significantly elevated over the years, especially this year, with more than 2,000 students participating from over 75 universities both domestically and internationally. I think this is one of VLU’s achievements in organizing academic competitions that promotes youth creativity and support innovation start-up activities for students. The topics each year are always diverse and comprehensive, attracting resources from many different businesses, providing contestants with opportunities for encountering and gaining practical experience. In addition, representatives from partner businesses and experts in the field of commerce highly appreciated the professionalism of the program, recognizing it as one of the highest-quality and large competitions compared to those at other universities in Ho Chi Minh City", Dr. Ngo Quang Trung shared.

Marketing Generators has not only grown in the number of participants over the years but also developed in scale and organization, providing students with valuable insights and practical experiences in the field of Marketing.

In the role of Head of the Organizing Committee of the Marketing Generators Season 4 and a companion throughout all 4 seasons, MSc. Nguyen Quoc Vuong, a lecturer of the Faculty of Commerce at Van Lang University, expressed his joy when witnessing the development of the competition through each season, "I am very happy to see the program’s scale expanding and elevating each year, receiving the attention of a large number of contestants from both domestic and international as well as experts in the field. True to the roadmap set out when this competition was established, in seasons 1 and 2, the competition was organized for students from universities in Ho Chi Minh City. It expanded to the national scale in season 3. Especially in season 4, the competition has grown internationally, attracting contestants from many countries around the world, especially Asian countries. In the coming years, Marketing Generators hopes to attract more contestants from other continents such as Europe, America. We also want to seek out major partners to enhance the prestige and scale of the competition.”

Marketing academic playground with "hot" topics

In each season, Marketing Generators brings relevant topics that closely linked to the hot issues in the marketing industry. From "Creating Sustainable Value" (2020), "Gen Z - Future Is The Pioneer's Hand" (2021), "Sustainable Tourism" (2023) and the latest is "E-Commerce Revolution - Catching up with the game" (2024). The topics each year are diverse and not confined to a framework. This encourages contestants to showcase their creativity and come up with bold, new, and unique ideas. Each contestant has the opportunity to shine and express their identity and personality in their projects.

From the breakthrough environmentally "Than gáo dừa R2D", to "Gen Z - Future Is The Pioneer's Hand" with its sustainable fashion solution, "From The Ashes - Reborn For Good" with its unique marketing strategy, and "E-Commerce Revolution - Catching up with the game" with its creative marketing solution, Marketing Generators has witnessed the birth of impressive project ideas, contributing to shaping the next generation of creative and confident young marketers.

Over 5,000 students have participated in the four seasons of Marketing Generators, contributing hundreds of creative ideas and sharing inspiring stories about their journeys to pursue their passion in marketing. The competition has attracted participants not only with its unique format and creative challenges but also with its attractive prizes. Each season, the organizers award cash prizes, internship and job opportunities at reputable companies, and support for the development of project ideas for outstanding teams. These awards solidify Marketing Generators' position as a bridge between passion and reality, serving as a launchpad for the next generation of young marketers to confidently enter the job market and make groundbreaking contributions in the future.

In addition, the competition's evaluation criteria are clearly, specifically, and objectively defined, encompassing creativity, practicality, effectiveness, presentation skills, and teamwork abilities. The evaluation is conducted through multiple rounds, ensuring accuracy and fairness.
