On November 11, 2024, Van Lang University (VLU) proudly received the accreditation certificates for meeting educational quality standards issued by the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) for six undergraduate programmes: Public Relations, Oriental Studies, Literature, Psychology, Economic Law, and Software Engineering. This achievement is clear evidence of VLU’s commitment to ensuring quality education and meeting the needs of stakeholders, while also providing confidence and trust for students, employers, and social partners.
The ceremony was attended by representatives from the Saigon Education Accreditation Center (CEA-SAIGON), including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Hanh Nga, Deputy Director of the Center, and Dr. Le Hoang Vu, Deputy Director. From VLU, the event was graced by the presence of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu, President of the University, alongside members of the Board of Administrators, heads of faculties, representatives from various departments, lecturers, students, and other stakeholders.
Prior to the ceremony, from October 17 to 21, 2023, an external evaluation team from CEA-SAIGON completed the assessment process for accreditation of 06 undergraduate programmes at VLU. The expert team conducted activities such as reviewing self-assessment reports and evidence, interviewing staff, faculty, and students, and surveying the facilities. These activities were aimed at ensuring objectivity and transparency in evaluating the quality of the six programmes according to the standards set by the MOET.
In her speech at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu emphasized, “With 27 programmes accredited and recognized for quality, including 6 programmes that meet AUN-QA standards and 3 rounds of institutional accreditation, these achievements are the result of collective determination and efforts of the entire Van Lang community. We always listen to feedback from experts, consultants, and students, combining it with our daily efforts to foster a strong quality culture at our University, ensuring that each student graduating from VLU is prepared to contribute to society and confidently step into the world.”
Returning from the QS Higher Education Summits, where VLU achieved remarkable ranking results, placing in the top 491-500 best universities in Asia and 86th in Southeast Asia (according to QS Rankings 2025), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu shared crucial insights from international experts about the importance of soft skills for students in the future: “AI is undeniably advancing rapidly, but the most essential tools for each student are soft skills - critical for their sustainable success. VLU not only imparts knowledge but also focuses on equipping students with lifelong learning skills, problem-solving abilities, and adaptability through experiential learning activities. We aspire for students to develop emotional intelligence and genuine leadership.”
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu also highlighted that the spirit of entrepreneurship and creativity are qualities that VLU consistently encourages and supports students to seek opportunities to apply their knowledge in practical settings. VLU anticipates that students will continue to partner with the University, harnessing their true potential through experiences, becoming responsible individuals committed to community action and contributing to sustainable development, starting with small actions that resonate into greater societal values.
In her remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Hanh Nga, Deputy Director of CEA-SAIGON, praised VLU’s educational quality, stating, “Achieving accreditation for six of the University’s programmes is a testament to the strong educational tradition built by VLU. With these core values, we believe that Van Lang students will possess the necessary knowledge and skills to enter the labor market and make a positive impact on society.”
VLU is committed to maintaining and enhancing educational quality, preparing students to participate effectively in the labor market with three key attributes: digital skills and artificial intelligence, rapid adaptability, and innovative leadership. The University hopes that the learning experiences at VLU will empower students to step into the world with confidence, contributing to the creation of a highly skilled workforce and fostering sustainable development for society.
On the 30-year journey of serving education, VLU has continuously improved and enhanced the quality of training, building a quality cultural foundation for all activities. Through connecting and integrating diverse values, Van Lang aims to be not just a learning environment but also an academic community with a passion for exploring knowledge, encouraging innovation, and building a better world.
The ceremony concluded successfully, but Van Lang’s journey of quality continues. The University, together with its students, will strive to achieve even greater milestones in the future, realizing the vision: “To become one of the most admired young universities in Asia by 2030.”
