On November 6 2024, students from the International Education Institute (IEI) majoring in International Business and Digital Marketing (in an international program with Liverpool John Moores University, United Kingdom) participated in a field trip to SP - ITC International Container Terminal. This experience provided the students with knowledge and practical insights into the fields of logistics and international transport.
The students had the opportunity to visit the refrigerated goods storage area (reefer container), where items requiring special temperature conditions, such as food and pharmaceuticals. Additionally, they also explored the berth, gaining hands-on experience with container loading and unloading procedures, and observing how crane equipment works.
The visit also included learning about the process of unloading goods from ships to the port and container stuffing. Students were guided on how to arrange goods in containers to ensure safety and optimize transport space.
During the visit, Mr. Nam Quang, lecturer in the Logistics Department and Head of Business Development at SP - ITC Terminal, shared valuable information about the import-export market in the context of Vietnam’s overall economy. Students were excited to learn how SP - ITC leverages AI and blockchain technologies to optimize international supply chains and transparent cargo information for its partners.
In addition, Mr. Nam Quang highlighted the career opportunities in the logistics and international transport sectors, offering students clearer perspectives on career paths after graduation.
Such practical field trips serve as valuable “career-oriented” lessons, providing a rich understanding of career trends and postgraduate development orientations. Building strong connections with businesses is a key training strategy at Van Lang University, aligning education with recruitment demands and market trends.
