On Sunday, March 19th, 2023, Van Lang University volunteers actively responded to the 148th "Green Sunday" activity at Rach Lang Canal and the North-South railway section (Binh Thanh district) near the main campus of Van Lang University.
Green Sunday is a meaningful activity implemented annually by the Youth Union at units to join hands to solve environmental pollution and respond to climate change. In 2023, the 148th Green Sunday event will be coordinated by units including Van Lang University Youth Union, Ho Chi Minh City Technical Infrastructure Management Center Branch, HCMC, and the Delegation of Ho Chi Minh City Urban Sewerage and Sewerage Co., Ltd. The program has special significance when it is part of a series of activities to celebrate the 92nd anniversary of the establishment of the Ho Chi Minh People's Union (26/3/1931 – 26/3/2023).
Receiving the assignment to be in charge of the Rach Lang canal route, nearly 100 Van Lang student volunteers participated in garbage treatment, hyacinth salvage, canal clearance, weed removal on both sides of the canal, ... expressing the spirit of aggression and volunteerism of youth in activities of protecting and preserving the green – clean – beautiful environment. Through their hard work, they have contributed to building a rich and beautiful and civilized homeland.
After a day of collective labor, the area full of weeds and garbage along the canal bank was cleared. The volunteers shared a common understanding and advocated for each other. They believed that the beautiful green landscape would be maintained for a long time if every Van Lang student shared the same sense of keeping the school clean and beautiful. Practical actions such as not littering, limiting the use of plastic bags, and taking care of trees, all contribute to keeping Van Lang green!
Thank you for the meaningful work of Van Lang students. Hopefully, the program "Green Sunday" will continue to be spread in scale and diversify forms, contributing to raising environmental protection awareness of young people and city people.
