On the morning of January 15, 2023, the VLU Students’ Association held the Closing Ceremony in collaboration with the program “Vui Tet Xa Nha" (Tet far from home) as part of the Xuan Tinh Nguyen (Spring Volunteer) 2023 campaign. This annual event is held by the University to bring the Tet atmosphere to VLU, allowing students with faraway families to experience the bustling and loving Tet atmosphere at the "second home."
The Closing Ceremony was attended by Assoc. Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu - President of Van Lang University, Dr. Vo Van Tuan - Secretary of the Party Committee, Standing Vice Rector; MSc. Dinh Xuan Toa - Director of the Student Support Center; Mr. Pham Thanh Phuoc - Member of the Executive Committee of the Youth Union and Ms. Phan Luu Anh Thu - Member of the Executive Committee of the Student Union of the College of Foreign Economic Relations.
According to Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu, President of Van Lang University: "More than 1000 students participated in the Spring Volunteer Campaign 2023, working together to create many meaningful activities and making valuable contributions to the Van Lang community in particular and society in general. I'd want to express my sincere appreciation on behalf of the Board of Directors. With a growing student community, the campaign is expected to attract more young people to participate, promote the values, and spread Van Lang's spirit to every Vietnamese home. Wishing you a new year full of health, new successes, and fulfillment of your wishes.”
Within the frame of the event, the Board of VLU complimented and honored the Leaders of Volunteer Spring Campaign 2023 for their dedication to completing the mission. Mr. Nguyen Hoang Tuan Anh represented the Leaders to present the campaign report. The campaign has included several important events for each team during the past two weeks: Sac xuan xanh (Spring of Green activities), Xuan yeu thuong (Spring of love), Xuan nghia tinh (Spring of gratitude), Xuan chien si (Spring of volunteers), Vui tet xa nha (Tet far from home), and Media. The effective cooperation between Teams created a playground for volunteers to interact, connect, and learn new things.
"Tet far from home" is a VLU’s traditional program organized every Tet holiday for students who stay in Ho Chi Minh City, not returning to their hometown to celebrate Tet. With many networking events, the program hopes to partly help students have more motivation to study and work during Tet.
Students were divided into small groups to compete in the five-fruit tray decoration event, showing their creativity in preparation for Tet. The first time living far from home, Thimahaxai Roughvilai, an exchange student in Laos from Course 27 of Environmental Engineering, shared: "I'm sad that I won't be able to spend New Year's Day with my family this year. However, thanks to Van Lang University's Spring Volunteer campaign and "Tet far from home" activities, I have reduced my loneliness and homesickness. Thank you for constantly caring, supporting, and preparing the program for all students, especially Laos students. We feel like we're celebrating Tet with our family because of the joyful atmosphere and love from lecturers and friends."
The Spring Volunteer Campaign 2023 shows not only the dynamism, enthusiasm, fearlessness, and youth of Van Lang students, but also the spirit of solidarity, caring, and sharing with the students’ lives. Thanks to the students for making the Van Lang community experience a meaningful and loving Tet festival. Wishing all lecturers and students a wonderful pleasant spring and a new year full of health.
