From May 17 to May 20, 2024, the Faculty of Law at Van Lang University organized a series of activities to disseminate legal knowledge on children's rights and the Law on the Sea and Islands of Vietnam, as well as provide career counseling for students in Con Dao District, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province.
The program on legal dissemination and career orientation for students was implemented by the Faculty of Law at Van Lang University at the request of the People's Committee and the Department of Education and Training of Con Dao District, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province. Through the lecturer' information sharing, local students had the opportunity to access new knowledge, enhance their understanding of the law, and improve their compliance with legal regulations.
On May 18, 2024, Delegation of lecturers, and staff of the Faculty of Law, Van Lang University visited Le Hong Phong Secondary School and Vo Thi Sau High School. At Le Hong Phong Secondary School, MSc. GVC. Nguyen Thi Yen and PhD. Lawyer Dao Nguyen Huong Duyen disseminated the Law on Children with the theme "All citizens take care of, educate, and protect children" to over 200 students in grades 8 and 9. For the 10th and 11th graders at Vo Thi Sau High School, the Faculty of Law at Van Lang University presented the topic "All for our beloved sea and islands, for the borders of our homeland" helping students understand the Law on the Sea and Islands of Vietnam.
In addition to providing valuable legal knowledge, students from Le Hong Phong Secondary School and Vo Thi Sau High School learn about Law, Economic Law, and the dynamic and creative learning environment at Van Lang University. Through the sharing of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Quang Thinh, there are various students in grade 10 and 11 who have expressed their aspiration to study at Van Lang University in the future, with dreams of becoming lawyers.
On May 19 and 20, 2024, the delegation visited forestry units and donated gifts worth 10 million VND each to two military units stationed in Con Dao. These meaningful gifts were prepared with contributions from the lectures and staff of The Faculty of Law at Van Lang University. In a warm atmosphere, the delegation members listened to stories about land preservation, forest protection, and safeguarding the nation's borders and islands, sharing the hardships and challenges faced by the military officers and forestry officials working in Con Dao, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province.
On the occasion of the Reunification Day on April 30, The Faculty of Law at Van Lang University visited and offered incense in memory of the heroic martyrs at Hang Duong Cemetery, Hang Keo Cemetery, and 914 Pier. The delegation also visited and presented gifts to two families of former Con Dao political prisoners currently residing in Con Dao District.
The program for disseminating legal knowledge about children's rights, the law on the Sea and Islands of Vietnam, and career counseling for students in Con Dao District has made a practical contribution to enhancing legal awareness and compliance with laws regarding children's rights and maritime law among students in this historic area. This meaningful mission has brought the image of the Faculty of Law and the brand of Van Lang University closer to the community.
