The global technology innovation competition - Imagine Cup 2025 officially launched at Van Lang University

On November 18, 2024, Van Lang University hosted the kick-off ceremony for the Imagine Cup 2025, aiming to provide students with opportunities to connect, learn, and showcase their creativity in the field of technology.

The event, held in an enthusiastic atmosphere, brought together four co-organizing units: Van Lang Technology School (VLTECH), InterEDU Education Organization, VinUni University, and the Da Nang Center for Microchip Design and Artificial Intelligence Research & Training. More than 300 technology enthusiasts attended the event.

Imagine Cup 2025 is a premier global startup technology competition organized by Microsoft, serving as an academic platform for young tech enthusiasts, particularly in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing. This marks the first time the competition is being held in Vietnam on a nationwide scale and is open to university students aged 18 and above. The global competition offers a total prize pool of up to $100,000, providing a “golden opportunity” for aspiring entrepreneurs to demonstrate their technological vision and affirm their position on the global stage.

During the ceremony, Mr. Kieu Manh Toan, Director of the Government and Enterprise Division at Microsoft Vietnam, introduced a range of student-oriented and entrepreneurial initiatives by Microsoft, including the Microsoft Startups Founders Hub, Imagine Cup 2025, and the Student Ambassador Program.

Mr. Hoang Le Hai Thanh, a lecturer at the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, and a former Microsoft Student Ambassador, shared his invaluable experiences and journey participating in the Imagine Cup. He emphasized that the competition serves as a platform for advancing professional skills and becoming engaged citizens who contribute positively to society.

As the hosting institution for Imagine Cup 2025, Prof. Dr. Vo Nguyen Quoc Bao, Vice President of Van Lang University and Dean of Van Lang Technology School, expressed his pride: "The university has created an international networking environment where students not only learn but also grow, realize their dreams, and establish their mark on the global technology map."

The kick-off ceremony provided young talents with comprehensive insights into Imagine Cup 2025. Through this event, students had the opportunity to engage with leading experts, particularly representatives from Microsoft Vietnam, paving the way for connections and career development in the future.
