In September 2023, Course 25 of Fashion Design at Van Lang University officially completed the graduating project protection period and conducted a beautiful fashion display, capturing the attention of the audience. In particular, many students’ designs have gone viral on social media and have been embraced by domestic and international celebrities.
Every year, the collections in a series from graduation projects of Fashion Design students at Van Lang University create a buzz in the fashion community, bringing excitement and expectation to the hearts of many young people passionate about beauty and fashion. In 2023, Course 25 students of Fashion Design produced 18 collections with different themes, aiming at a wide range of consumers and generations, and matching the practical demands of the current fashion market. Many students shared that their inspiration came from Vietnam's traditional culture, natural beauty, childhood stories, natural phenomena, and distinctive patterns in the cultures around the world... Most projects received high praises for their technique, including tailoring method, combined with intelligent material handling, attaining high synchronization from drawing boards to real samples, and the project demonstration system.
MSc. Le Thi Thanh Nhan, the Head of the Fashion Design department, shared, "As a mentor closely guiding students from Course 24 and Course 25 throughout their four-month graduation projects, I am immensely delighted and proud to witness your maturity in design thinking at each stage. Overall, all projects meet stringent quality standards, addressing the practical demands of the fashion industry. Some projects have garnered high praise for their alignment with market psychology. You have not only demonstrated your individuality but also demonstrated considerable attention to the customer factors, those who directly experience the products. I anticipate that this graduation project will open up opportunities for you to pursue a career path with esteemed fashion partners both domestically and internationally."
The fashion collection "Loc Tu Binh" by student Nguyen Hoai Nhu has garnered significant praise from the assessment committee. She meticulously described the shape, pattern, color, glazes, layout, and the entire process involved in creating four precious jars made from water hyacinth in Bat Trang. This collection conveys a broad and profound perspective on Vietnamese pottery art through the medium of fashion. The young designer Nguyen Hoai Nhu, with meticulous attention to every stitch, has applied advanced techniques such as printing and 3D cutting for the smallest details. Form-building methods and textured quilting have been applied to accessories. The project received the highest score from the assessment committee, earning a commendable 9.45, and has been featured in recent fashion photos by Miss Charm 2023, Luma Russo from Brazil, as well as by Miss Grand International 2021, Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien.
Under the guidance of lecturer Dinh Nguyen Kieu My, Tran Tu Nghi successfully crafted the graduation collection TUI ICONIC (We were all children), drawing inspiration from the emotions of the "Inside Child" and the Decora style of the Japanese Harajuku street. The project has created a great resonance as it is especially loved by the online community. Within less than two days since its release, a video clip capturing this fashion collection during the graduation project defense session has attracted over 4 million views. Tu Nghi shared, “For me, fashion is a tool to show perspective. I use fashion to narrate my own story. There is no limit to creativity and there is certainly no limit to a clear standard. Each person's fashion is unique.” It is known that Nghi currently owns her own fashion brand, boasting a fan page with over 15,000 followers. Most recently, female singer-model Chipu featured numerous designs from Nhi's fashion brand in the 2023 Wind Pedal program in China.
Embracing the belief that fashion is happiness, patience, and a place for self-expression, Nguyen Duong Tuyen has committed to creating a fashion collection for women aged 25 to 35, specifically designed for the spring-summer season, drawing inspiration from Lichen. She emphasizes that Lichen, though small, is a resilient creature capable of surviving anywhere and thriving in harsh weather conditions. Tuyen's aim is to explore the growth structure and beauty of Lichen from various perspectives. Each variety of Lichen possesses unique beauty in terms of form, color, and structural characteristics. Under the guidance of MSc. Le Thi Thanh Nhan, Tuyen developed a pattern system based on the unique characteristics and developmental structure of Lichen. This involved the harmonious integration of techniques such as fabric printing, embroidery, and the combination of 18 different lace types. Tuyen's meticulous and elaborate preparation for the graduation project has yielded excellent results, earning her a commendable score of 9.14 from the assessment committee.
On Sunday evening, September 10, 2023, in collaboration with reputable entities: Style-Republik, Street Vibe - Fashion & Life, Edge Studio, Vanmiu Beauty, Xuan Lan Academy, Vo Hoang Yen's Academy, the most outstanding 17 collections were selected and performed in the K25TT GRADUATE FASHION SHOW event, which drew many famous models, designers, and fashion experts. The professionally organized presentation highlighted the impressive creative ability of Van Lang University students.
The K25TT GRADUATE FASHION SHOW also serves as an opportunity for students to showcase their self-crafted projects to the fashion community, showcasing the capabilities and potential of Fashion Design students. This presentation represents a significant milestone, marking the conclusion of the academic journey for Course 25 in Fashion Design, while also paving the way for the future professional and creative path of the Bachelor of Fashion Design at Van Lang University in the future.
