On May 31, 2024, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities held the signature Thien Dieu event themed "Touch", aiming to express gratitude to the beloved teachers of the SOHU family, reflect on the journey of senior students, and convey meaningful messages about familial love and affection.
Expressing her emotions upon reuniting with multiple generations of students during the signature program, Dr Nguyen Bao Thanh Nghi, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, shared: “I am proud of this event, meticulously organized by our students over the past month, culminating in today’s event. In the audience are many generations of students who have grown under the roof of Van Lang University and have returned to express their gratitude to the lecturers who guided them. This embodies the spirit of humanity that I hope you will preserve on your future journeys.”
Entering the Thien Dieu space, lecturers and students journeyed through various emotional stages during the ceremonial and festive parts of the program. On the path to realizing their dreams, every student deeply appreciated the role and significance of their lecturers. The most meaningful moment of the Thien Dieu event was when the student collective from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities expressed sincere gratitude to the lecturers at Van Lang University for nurturing knowledge and igniting passion across generations of students.
Through meticulously crafted performances, the theme "Touch" transported viewers to a futuristic world, showcasing extraordinary advancements in technology and robotics. Audiences were taken on a journey through various dimensions, with narratives unfolding through SEE - UNDERSTAND - TOUCH, guiding them from one surprise to another and evoking a wide range of emotions. The highlight was a unique act combining theater, singing, dancing, and fashion shows, touching the hearts of the audience with poignant messages and life lessons about family love and friendship.
The journey through time began in the 22nd century when humans coexisted and interacted with advanced technological robots. With cutting-edge inventions, a mere touch allowed humans to accomplish anything, yet this convenience fostered emotional detachment and indifference. The story unfolded around the character Huy, whose parents were renowned researchers and inventors. Their relentless focus on their work caused them to neglect their child. In his quest for familial love, Huy traveled through various dimensions, uncovering dark secrets and the harsh realities of human greed.
Heeding the advice of his robotic companion AMO, Huy began to empathize with his parents and wanted to understand their work to offer his support. During a visit to his parents' workplace, Huy marveled at the state-of-the-art machines they had invented. It was there that he discovered the time machine—a secret his father had kept hidden for so long.
After everything, Huy finally understood the anguish of his parents, deeply comprehended the immense love his parents have for him, and felt how sacred and precious that affection is. When the melody of the song "Thank you and I'm sorry" played, it was also the moment Huy realized all his mistakes and apologized sincerely to his family.
The See - Understand - Touch journey helps us realize that no matter how rapidly the world develops, whether in the leaps of the past, present, or future, simply slowing down allows us to feel the warmth of those affectionate feelings that surround us every day. The Thien Dieu event with the theme "Touch" concludes with a myriad of emotions: gratitude and appreciation for the lecturers; joy and pride from those who have contributed so much effort to build such a meaningful event together; excitement and satisfaction in enjoying impressive performances. Hopefully, Thien Dieu will continue its journey, always "blooming" in the following seasons and preserving the spirit of unity within the Faculty of Social Sciences & Humanities family.
