On August 31, 2023, Van Lang University, in collaboration with Enago, organized a workshop titled "The Secrets of Publishing International Articles" to share practical experiences in the process of conducting and publishing international scientific articles with the lecturers and staff of Van Lang University.
Enago is a leading provider of scientific manuscript editing services for the global research community. Recognizing the high importance and role of publishing international articles in the academic environment, the Scientific Measurement Research and Research Administration (SARAP) collaborated with Enago to update new information and impart skills related to submitting and publishing scientific articles on international forums to lecturers and staff. The workshop attracted over 130 participants who attended online through Zoom.
During the workshop, lecturers and staff were guided and provided detailed information on scientific research and publishing international articles, policies to support the research community, and the top 10 secrets of international publishing from Enago.
In the first presentation, Dr. Le Van Ut, Assistant Chairman of the Board of Administrators, briefly explained some terms and emphasized that a university must be understood and constructed in accordance with its roles and functions, which include two main activities: education and research. Research is essential because it allows lecturers and staff to discover new methods, provide engaging lectures, and expand knowledge for students. Therefore, improving the quality of the university is closely linked to enhancing the quality of its lecturers. A good lecturer is not only proficient in teaching but also provides solid guidance and support to students in conducting research to elevate their knowledge. Dr. Le Van Ut emphasized: “It can be seen that all development comes from research, and from which creates outstanding individuals in the field.”
An internationally recognized publication must be peer-reviewed by equivalent parties. During the workshop, the speakers also informed the participants about signs to identify low-quality journals, the international publication process, and the difficulties and solutions to be aware of during international publishing.
Representing Enago, Dr. Gayatri Phadke, Managing Editor, and Ms. Neha Arya, Senior Manager Strategic Alliances, shared information about policies to support the research community and the secrets of international publishing from Enago. Ms. Neha Arya mentioned, "International publishing requires a meticulous process, starting with understanding the current academic publishing context, structuring your research paper, and, importantly, selecting a suitable journal that aligns with your research criteria and target audience."
With the aim of becoming an internationally recognized Vietnamese university, contribution to society and strengthening the position in the academic field have been two of the top priorities of Van Lang University in recent years. Through workshops in particular and activities that promote research initiatives and valuable research publications in general, Van Lang University hopes to inspire and motivate the research community, both lecturers and students, to create valuable research contributions that will benefit society and the community.
