The white coat ceremony of Pharmacy Freshmen from course 29 at Van Lang University

On October 6, 2023, the Faculty of Pharmacy of Van Lang University organized the White Coat ceremony for pharmacy freshmen of Course 29 at hall 1.01, campus 2. This is an annual activity of the Faculty to welcome new students to officially join the student community at Van Lang University.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Nguyen Thanh Trung – Deputy Director of Trung Son Technology Company Limited, representative of the enterprise sponsoring white coats for the students; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Truong Ngoc Tuyen - Head of the Organic Chemistry Department of the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Hochiminh City, the main speaker of the ceremony; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Truong Thi Dep - former lecturer of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Hochiminh City, visiting lecturer of Van Lang University and MSc. Ly Thi Phuong Hoa - Deputy Dean in charge of the Faculty of Nursing and Medical Technology. From the Faculty of Pharmacy, Dr. Nguyen Thi Hong Huong - Deputy Dean in charge of the Faculty of Pharmacy and all the lecturers were participated in the ceremony.

Representative of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Dr. Nguyen Thi Hong Huong gave greetings as well as some advice for the freshmen to better understand the curriculum and have effective study plans. The freshmen were also introduced to the subjects and lecturers who would accompany them throughout their 5-year journey of studying at the Faculty. Besides, as an inspirational speaker, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Truong Ngoc Tuyen helped students have an overview of the pharmaceutical industry, as well as the qualities that need to be practiced to become a good pharmacist.

The program’s highlight is the white coat ceremony, when each freshman was dressed in a white coat by their lecturers, as a guide and encouragement for the first steps on the journey to becoming future pharmacists. Representative of the Course 29 students, Ton Nu Quynh Huong shared her feelings right after wearing the white coat: "When being put on a white coat by lecturers, I feel like my journey to becoming a pharmacist has officially begun. I hope that my classmates and I will continue to strive on this path."

Also in the program, the Executive Committee of the Youth Union - Faculty of Pharmacy Student Association and representatives of the Guitar Club, VPEC (Van Lang Pharmacy English Club) combined with students of all courses to bring many talented and exciting performances to connect and motivate the Course 29 freshmen on their upcoming university journey. Hopefully with this start, the pharmacy freshmen will have appropriate directions and stay firmly on their chosen path. Wishing the Course 29 students of the Faculty of Pharmacy to always be confident on their new journey and "Conquering limits - The first step to reach further".
