On December 2, 2024, Van Lang University's Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities organized a workshop titled 'Career Guidance in Psychology,' providing students in the Counseling and Social Psychology programs with deeper insights into their field, job characteristics, and career opportunities.

During the event, attendees participated in the 'Psychology Golden Bell' quiz, which focused on general knowledge and the academic program in psychology at Van Lang University.

Students navigated a tense competition, buoyed by the encouragement of the audience and teachers.

Dr. Ho Quoc Hung, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at Van Lang University, remarked: "The program has fostered a space for interaction and learning among students from different Classes. Over the past 7 years of establishment and development, the Psychology department at Van Lang is expected to grow robustly, affirming its strength and dedication to the university in particular and to society in general."

Citing notable programs, Ms. Pham Thi Anh Hoa, an editor, lecturer, and part of the Viet Script Co., Ltd. team, emphasizes the importance of employing psychological knowledge to create compelling emotional storylines for the programs.

During the event, Ms. Tran Thu Ha, Deputy Head of the Psychology Department, presented the Psychology Training Program and the study pathway. She encouraged freshmen to apply the '3 Avoids - 2 Strives' learning approach to boost their job market competitiveness.

Ms. Tran Thu Ha stressed that aspects such as striving for scholarships and accumulating training points from school-organized events are the building blocks for student growth right from their university days.

Besides providing advice, the experts also shared their real-world experiences. Mr. Dang Van Thach, Head of the Rehabilitation Department at Ho Chi Minh City Mental Hospital, pointed out that students need to be attentive to psychological treatment and counseling, and should be mentally ready to tackle obstacles.

Ms. Tran Van Anh, a school psychology counselor at Dinh Thien Ly Secondary and High School in Ho Chi Minh City, stated that the current job market is very promising, with many schools implementing psychological counseling models. The speakers, holding the view that 'Psychology is a science about people, created to serve people,' stressed the need to apply specialized knowledge effectively in real life.

According to Mr. Duong Huu Hanh, Head of Trade Marketing at I.P. One Co., Ltd. (Vietnam), psychology plays a significant role in studying consumer behavior and the consumer market in Vietnam. These are essential elements in building corporate culture, which impacts the sustainable development of the organization.

Closing the program was a roundtable discussion with guest speakers, where professionals shared valuable tips, pinpointed promising prospects in psychology, and inspired the student audience.

The students enthusiastically posed many intriguing questions to the experts, demonstrating their keen interest and burning passion for their discipline.

The 'Psychology Career Guidance' workshop offered opportunities for exchange and understanding quality information from practical viewpoints. It is hoped that the students have charted their development paths after completing the Psychology program at Van Lang University.
