On November 22, 2024, Van Lang University, in collaboration with PepsiCo Foods and Grac, officially launched the “Green Recycling Stations” program. This initiative marks the first step in the “Green Schools” project jointly implemented by Van Lang University and its corporate partners. As the first educational partner of the project, Van Lang University supports the goal of promoting technological applications in waste collection and recycling behavior within its student community. This meaningful initiative not only encourages students to adopt green living habits but also fosters a sense of community responsibility for environmental protection.
With a mission to cultivate a generation of progressive and innovative individuals, Van Lang University continuously strives to equip its students with the mindset to build a sustainable future and raise awareness about social issues. As part of the event, the talk show titled “Living Green, Acting Green: From Plastic to Sustainability” offered students valuable insights from experts such as Mr. Nguyen Viet Ha – General Director of PepsiCo Foods Vietnam, Ms. Nguyen Mai Chi – Director of External Relations and Communications at PepsiCo Foods Vietnam, Ms. Ha Phan Kim Nguyet – Founder of Upgreen Vietnam, and Mr. Nguyen Trong Minh – General Director of Grac Technology JSC.
Speaking at the event, she expressed her hope that Van Lang students would generate innovative ideas about reuse and recycling, enhancing awareness to ensure waste reaches recycling facilities in the most optimal and convenient way. She also emphasized that this model at Van Lang University could be expanded to other schools in Vietnam and create a unified model for surrounding communities.
Continuing with the “Green” theme, Mr. Nguyen Viet Ha – General Director of PepsiCo Foods Vietnam – expressed his delight at the students’ interest in environmental issues. He shared and proposed practical strategies for environmental protection while encouraging individuals to recognize the importance of a sustainable green future.
These unique artworks were created using different methods: recycled plastic, painting paper from dó paper pulp to reduce deforestation of primary forest, and water-based paints using water as the primary solvent instead of chemical solvents to minimize air pollution. At the talk show, students also learned about the application of technology in waste sorting at source from Mr. Nguyen Trong Minh, General Director of Grac Technology JSC, and explored models for recycling plastic into modern products from Ms. Ha Phan Kim Nguyet, Founder of Upgreen Vietnam.
The program concluded successfully with a Q&A session between experts and Van Lang students on various topics surrounding sustainable living in the future. Over the next three months, the project is set to deploy Green Recycling Stations at Van Lang University's main campus, aiming to spread positive values to the community and raise awareness among students and faculty about environmental protection and fostering a green and sustainable lifestyle for the future.
