Taking learners as the center, Van Lang University strives to provide a dynamic and quality learning environment, aiming at the mission of nurturing talents and creating conditions for young people to have the opportunity to become successful students. From this foundation, they can become the best version of themselves, creating positive impacts on the community. The university also pays special attention to creating equal learning opportunities for people with disabilities through financial support, facilities, specialized equipment, etc.
Many forms of support are available for learners with disabilities.
For many years, Van Lang University has created the best conditions for physically and mentally disadvantaged students so that they can have an equal learning environment, and the opportunity to access quality education and integrate into the community.
The university accepts admission applications in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training for candidates with disabilities. In addition, the university’s training management software system has also integrated features to track and manage student information, including students with disabilities, to support each case promptly.
In order to support and reduce the financial burden and provide students with more motivation to pursue knowledge, the university has developed a policy to support 30% of tuition/semester for students with disabilities. In 2022, the group of students with disabilities received financial support of more than 220 million VND from the university.
In addition to the training program, students with disabilities can participate in practical experience activities, student movements, academic competitions, cultural and artistic exchanges, which are suitable to their physical abilities and strengths, to be able to confidently express and immerse themselves in the dynamic and colorful Van Lang student community.
Invest in facilities, specialized equipment and provide learning support for students with disabilities
With the desire to develop a safe learning environment and maximally support the travel needs of learners, especially learners with disabilities, Van Lang University installs modern elevator systems on campuses and student dormitories, with specially designed and convenient walkways and toilets suitable for students with disabilities.
At each campus, Van Lang University will equip wheelchairs, specialized equipment for the travel of disabled students, and learning support equipment such as specialized computer systems and voice translators which change voice into words,... to help learners absorb the lecture in the best way.
The university arranges a team of volunteers to be on duty at the campuses to guide and support all students to easily travel between building areas and use the elevator safely.
Not only providing financial support, facilities, and equipment for learning, Van Lang University is interested in the suitability of the training program with the physical and mental health of students with disabilities. The university will consider a curriculum that meets the health status of the learners but still ensures to convey enough necessary knowledge. In particular, physical education, national defense education and other modules that do not meet the health requirements of students with disabilities will be exempted or converted to other forms, creating the most favorable conditions for students with disabilities. Students can complete the training program according to regulations. In addition, the university operates an Office of Psychological Counsellingto care for the mental health of all learners, including learners with disabilities.
Through specific policies, the spirit of care and timely support to each student’s case, Van Lang University hopes to motivate and inspire students with disabilities so that they can be confident and secure in their studies.
