On the afternoon of October 22, 2024, Van Lang University held a formal ceremony to announce its achievement of institutional accreditation under the FIBAA European standards and the certification of two academic programs meeting the quality standards of the ASEAN University Network (AUN-QA). This milestone represents the culmination of years of collective efforts by Van Lang University to enhance quality across all its activities.
Van Lang University has become the first private university in Vietnam to achieve FIBAA accreditation, becoming one of four universities in Vietnam that have successfully completed all FIBAA quality criteria with 100% the quality requirements, in which nearly 50% of these criteria were assessed as exceeding quality requirements. Remarkably, there are two criterias as exceptional - the highest level of quality, which other universities had not been previously recognized by FIBAA’s Accreditation and Certification Commission.
Overcoming the rigorous accreditation processes of FIBAA, Ms. Diane Freiberger, Executive Director of FIBAA, commended “Van Lang University has continuously strived to develop creative solutions for quality assurance. When our experts conducted the evaluation, we did not merely review documents; we observed whether the students genuinely benefited from the resources and activities the university promised. And Van Lang University has achieved well-deserved success, and today is a moment of pride.”
In addition, Van Lang University’s Bachelor of Fashion Design and Bachelor of Interior Design programs received AUN-QA certification with the distinction of “exceeding expectations.” These programs were rigorously assessed on criteria such as learning outcomes and program structure teaching methodologies , student evaluation, and lecturer qualifications,… Over six years of collaboration, continuous improvement, and active engagement with student feedback, the faculty and staff of the Faculty of Arts and Design have made significant progress in enhancing the quality of these programs. This milestone brings the total number of AUN-QA-accredited programs at Van Lang University to six, following the certification of four majors in 2022: Graphic Design, Environmental Engineering Technology, Accounting, and Hotel Management.
Mr. Johnson Ong Chee Bin, the founding member of the council and Training Specialist at AUN-QA, encouraged “In an era of rapid development and challenges, it is not the strongest or the most intelligent who survive but those who can adapt best to changes. I believe that the Faculty of Arts and Design at Van Lang university embodies this quality. Students who possess high expertise and values, transforming your programs from good enough to high quality programs.”
Expressing pride in the university’s accomplishments, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu, Rector of Van Lang University, shared: “Achieving international education standards through FIBAA and AUN-QA accreditation is a testament to Van Lang University’s success in realizing its mission to create a humane ecosystem for nurturing talents who bring positive impacts to society. This serves as a foundation for Van Lang University to strive toward its goal of becoming one of the most admired universities in Asia by 2030.”
Attending the university's significant event, Prof. Dr. Huynh Van Chuong, Director General of the Department of Education Quality Management at the Ministry of Education and Training, made a positive assessment of the university’s accreditation journey: “As of September 31, 2024, Vietnam has nearly 600 internationally accredited programs, including those at Van Lang. Currently, fewer than 15 institutions in the country have achieved international accreditation, and we congratulate Van Lang for obtaining FIBAA accreditation. Based on the criteria of accrediting organizations and the recommendations of experts, the university must identify its strengths and weaknesses to continue making continuous improvements and raising the standard of its educational quality. Ultimately, The goal of quality assurance is the happiness of the learners, which is also the happiness of the university.”
Successfully meeting the rigorous standards of FIBAA and AUN-QA accreditation demonstrates Van Lang University’s commitment to delivering world-class education, encompassing high-quality academic programs, qualified lecturers, modern facilities, and optimal student support services. Van Lang University is proud of its 30-year journey toward educational excellence.
