Van Lang University announces the scholarship policies for Course 29 in 2023

In July 2023, Van Lang University announced its scholarship policies to support new students enrolling in the academic year 2023. This is the policy that the university maintains and expands every year to enhance the quality of incoming students and encourage talents in the fields of culture, arts, sports, community activities, entrepreneurship, and scientific research, providing support for many students to realize their dreams of entering the university.

In 2023, Van Lang University welcomes the new generation of Class 29 students to join the Van Lang student community with 62 full-time undergraduate majors spanning: Engineering - Technology, Business and Management, Architecture , Art and Design, Tourism Management, Health Sciences, Law, Humanities and Communications…

For the 2023’s admissions, Van Lang University offers many scholarships with a total value of more than 20 billion VND for young talents. This creates opportunities for students to pursue their favorite fields of study in a modern and well-equipped environment and provides support to meet the demands of global career integration.

I. STANDARD PROGRAM AND HONORS PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIPS

1. TALENT SCHOLARSHIPS

Level 1: Full Scholarship (covers 100% of the tuition fee for the entire course)

Eligibility: New students enrolling in Van Lang University's programs in 2023 (excluding International Programs) who meet one of the following criteria:

  • Achieved high results (first, second, or won gold, silver, or bronze medals) in excellent student competitions, contests, or tournaments at the national level and above from 2020 to 2023.
  • Obtained a total high school graduation exam score of 51.0 or higher in 2023 (based on 6 subjects, excluding the extra score for regional priority, targeted priority, and foreign language scores that were converted according to the regulations in 2023).

Number of scholarships: 10 (awarded from high to low until the quota is filled).

Level 2: Partial Scholarship (covers 50% of the tuition fee for the entire course)

Eligibility: New students enrolling in Van Lang University's programs in 2023 (excluding International Programs) who meet one of the following criteria:

  • Achieved results in excellent student competitions, contests, or tournaments at the national level and above from 2020 to 2023.
  • Obtained a total high school graduation exam score of 48.0 or higher in 2023 (based on 6 subjects, excluding the extra score for regional priority, targeted priority, and foreign language scores that were converted according to the regulations in 2023).

Number of scholarships: 20 (awarded from high to low until the quota is filled).

Candidates who achieve good results in excellent student competitions, national tournaments or have prizes in the fields of culture, art, sports, scientific research, etc… will have many opportunities to receive valuable scholarship from Van Lang University

2. ENCOURAGEMENT SCHOLARSHIPS

  • Scholarship Value: 100% of the tuition fee for the first semester.

Eligibility: New students enrolling in Van Lang University's programs in 2023 through the direct admission method and are former students of specialized/gifted high schools nationwide.

Expected number of scholarships: 80.

3. SCHOLARSHIPS FOR 300 OUTSTANDING NEW STUDENTS

  • Scholarship Value: 100% of the tuition fee for the first semester.

Eligibility: New students enrolling in Van Lang University's programs in 2023 (excluding International Programs) who meet one of the following criteria:

- Achieved high results in excellent student competitions, contests, or tournaments at national-level and above from 2021 to 2023.

- Obtained a total high school graduation exam score of 45.0 or higher in 2023 (based on 6 subjects, excluding the extra score for regional priority, targeted priority, and foreign language scores that were converted according to the regulations in 2023).

  • Number of scholarships: 300 (awarded from high to low until the quota is filled).
  • Scholarship terms of use: The scholarship applies to the tuition fee for the first semester of the course. The scholarship will be deducted from the second-semester tuition fee of the first year.

4. DEVELOPMENT SCHOLARSHIPS

Scholarships for Aviation Engineering

  • Scholarship for 100% of the tuition fee for the entire course for 3 new students with a combined subject score of 24.0 or higher (based on the high school graduation exam score in 2023, excluding the extra score for regional priority, targeted priority, and foreign language scores that were converted according to the regulations in 2023).
  • Scholarship for 50% of the tuition fee for the entire course for 5 new students with a combined subject score of 22.0 or higher (based on the high school graduation exam score in 2023, excluding the extra score for regional priority, targeted priority, and foreign language scores that were converted according to the regulations in 2023).
  • Scholarship for 30% of the tuition fee for the entire course for 10 new students with a combined subject score of 20.0 or higher (based on the high school graduation exam score in 2023, excluding the extra score for regional priority, targeted priority, and foreign language scores that were converted according to the regulations in 2023).

In 2023, Van Lang University enrolled the first course in Aviation Engineering, with two specializations including Aeronautical Science and Aviation Maintenance.

Scholarships for Environmental Engineering Technology

  • Scholarship for 80% of the tuition fee for the entire course for 5 new students with an excellent academic record of three years in high school or a combined subject score of 22.50 or higher (based on the high school graduation exam score in 2023, excluding the extra score for regional priority, targeted priority, and foreign language scores that were converted according to the regulations in 2023).
  • Scholarship for 50% of the tuition fee for the entire course for 10 new students with an excellent academic record of three years in high school or a combined subject score of 19.50 or higher (based on the high school graduation exam score in 2023, excluding the extra score for regional priority, targeted priority, and foreign language scores that were converted according to the regulations in 2023).
  • Scholarship for 40% of the tuition fee for the entire course: available to new students who enroll within the specified period.

5. SCHOLARSHIPS ACCORDING TO VAN LANG UNIVERSITY'S POLICIES

In addition to the entrance scholarships, Van Lang University continues to maintain policies to support new students with study loans in accordance with the Government's regulations (from the Bank for Social Policies):

  • Scholarship for 50% of the tuition fee for the entire course if the student's parent is currently working at Van Lang University.
  • Scholarship for 10 - 12% of the tuition fee per student if the student's siblings are currently studying or have graduated from Van Lang University. Students whose parents are alumni of the university receive a 10% tuition discount.
  • Scholarship for 10 – 15 - 30% of the tuition fee for the entire course for orphaned students with no guardian; students with disabilities, economic difficulties, or belonging to ethnic minority groups…

**** In addition to the above scholarship groups, the Admissions Board of Van Lang University still accepts scholarship applications for special cases that do not fit the mentioned criteria. In such cases, applicants need to submit documents explaining their circumstances, achievements, or reasons for scholarship consideration. The Admissions Board will review each specific case individually.

4. IMPLEMENTATION

  • Scholarship Application Documents: If the student meets the scholarship criteria as mentioned above, they need to prepare a scholarship application consisting of the following required documents:

- Scholarship application form

- Citizen Identification Card (notarized photocopy)

- Certificate of the high school graduation exam results in 2023 (notarized photocopy)

- Certificate of commendation or academic achievements (notarized photocopy), if available.

  • Time and Location for submitting Scholarship Applications:

- Expected timeline for submitting scholarship applications: September 10th to September 30th, 2023.

- Location for submitting scholarship applications: Admissions Office at the Main Campus or Campus 1 of Van Lang University.

  • Scholarship Review Process and Principles:

- Based on the scholarship applications of the students, the Admission Board Secretary organizes the review process and announces the list of scholarship recipients one week before the Opening Ceremony of the new academic year.

-  Scholarship review principles:

o   Scholarships are awarded from the top down until the criteria are fulfilled. If students have the same high school graduation exam scores, the university will consider additional criteria (12th-grade academic transcripts, foreign language certificates, etc.).

o  If a student qualifies for multiple types of scholarships, they will receive the one with the highest value.

  • Scholarship Award Procedure:

-      The university plans to present scholarship certificates during the Opening Ceremony or specific events of the Faculty.

-    For the Talent scholarships (full and partial) and Development scholarships, new students need to pay the tuition fee for the first semester within the designated enrollment period. The university will refund the first-semester tuition fee after completing the scholarship approval process and the necessary procedures for transferring the funds to the students.

-      For Outstanding Student scholarships and Talent Scholarships (Encouragement Scholarships): The university will deduct the scholarship amount from the tuition fee for the second semester of the first year.

-      For other remaining scholarships: Follow the current regulations of the university.

  • Terms of use for Using Full-Course Scholarships:
    • Scholarships will be maintained for the following semesters if the students meet the following conditions:
  • Do not change their majors.
  • Complete the required number of credits according to the university's curriculum.
  • Attain an average academic GPA of 7.5 or higher and a training point of 75 or higher, and meet other specified conditions.
  • Scholarships are granted to students during the specified study period. If students take additional courses outside the curriculum or extend their study period, they will be responsible for paying the additional tuition fees. Students who fail a course will have to pay the tuition fee for retaking that course.

 

  • Handling of Complaints:

If there are any complaints, students need to submit an appeal letter along with supporting evidence.

Location for submitting complaints: Admissions Office of Van Lang University.

Timeframe: 5 days, starting from the date of announcing the list of scholarship recipients. After this period, any complaints will not be considered.

II. INTERNATIONAL PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIPS

In this year's admissions period, the International Education Institute (IEI) of Van Lang University is offering 123 scholarships named "Elite" and "Going Global" ranging from 25% to 100% for outstanding students with strong foreign language abilities, providing them with additional motivation to pursue their favorite fields of study in a modern and well-equipped environment.

1. ELITE (50%, 75%, 100%)

- Candidates admitted to and enrolled in the International Bachelor's Program at Van Lang University must have achieved a cumulative GPA of 8.5 or higher in grades 10, 11, and the first semester of grade 12, as well as an IELTS (academic) score of 6.5 or higher or equivalent certification.

- Priority will be given to candidates who have won awards in international/national/provincial/city-level competitions or have outstanding achievements in extracurricular and community activities.

2. GOING GLOBAL 100%

- Candidates admitted to and enrolled in the International Bachelor's Program at Van Lang University must have achieved a cumulative GPA of 8.5 or higher in grades 10, 11, and the first semester of grade 12, as well as an IELTS (academic) score of 7.5 or higher or equivalent certification.

- Candidates actively participate in extracurricular and community activities.

3. GOING GLOBAL 75%

- Candidates admitted to and enrolled in the International Bachelor's Program at Van Lang University must have achieved a cumulative GPA of 8.0 or higher in grades 10, 11, and the first semester of grade 12, as well as an IELTS (academic) score of 7.0 or higher or equivalent certification.

- Candidates actively participate in extracurricular and community activities.

4. GOING GLOBAL 50%

- Candidates admitted to and enrolled in the International Bachelor's Program at Van Lang University must have achieved a cumulative GPA of 7.5 or higher in grades 10, 11, and the first semester of grade 12, as well as an IELTS (academic) score of 6.5 or higher or equivalent certification.

 - Candidates actively participate in extracurricular and community activities.

5. GOING GLOBAL 25%

- Candidates admitted to and enrolled in the International Bachelor's Program at Van Lang University must have achieved a cumulative GPA of 7.0 or higher in grades 10, 11, and the first semester of grade 12, as well as an IELTS (academic) score of 6.0 or higher or equivalent certification.

- Candidates actively participate in extracurricular and community activities.

5. ORGANIZATION FOR SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

Scholarship Application Documents:

  • Scholarship application form (including personal information, academic achievements, and educational background).
  • Self-introduction letter in English (stating: Objectives and reasons for choosing the major at Van Lang University. How the chosen major aligns with your goals. Why do you deserve the scholarship?)
  • 01 copy of academic transcripts, contact information, or other documents certifying academic achievements.
  • Copies of English proficiency certificates, extracurricular certificates, or other relevant documents (if available).

Time and Location for submitting Scholarship Applications:
Phase 1: March 20, 2023 - July 31, 2023 (for students enrolling in the first batch of admission)

Phase 2: August 1, 2023 - August 31, 2023 (for students enrolling in the second batch of admission or if there are remaining scholarship slots)

Phase 3: September 1, 2023 - September 30, 2023 (for students enrolling in the third batch of admission or if there are remaining scholarship slots)
