Van Lang University celebrates the Hung Kings Commemorations and 28th establishment anniversary.

The Hung Kings Commemorations and Van Lang University's 28th establishment anniversary were held on April 29 (the 10th day of the third lunar month) at the main campus, with many cultural and artistic activities.

Belief in Hung Kings is a spiritual symbol of the Vietnamese people, recognized as an intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO. In Ho Chi Minh City, Van Lang University was named after the country's first national name and related to the legend history of Hung Kings. Van Lang University's name conveys national pride, reminds the new generation to work hard, and contributes to the country's brilliance.

Every year on the tenth day of the third lunar month, Van Lang University celebrates its establishment anniversary. Annually, in gratitude to King Hung, our ancestors, and the founders of VLU, on the Hung Kings Commemorations, Van Lang University organizes an incense offering ceremony and many unique cultural and art activities, connecting the community of lecturers, students, and alumni.

Land and Water Worshiping Ceremony

To ensure the afternoon ceremony on April 29 success, the Founding Committee and Van Lang Heritage Institute met on April 24, 2023, to discuss traditional work and celebrate the Land and Water Worshiping Ceremony, two symbols brought by the School Board from the Jade Well and Hung Temple, placed in a sacred place on campus. The ceremony also serves as a reminder to Van Lang's descendants of their ancestors, origins, and the first aspirations that the Founders imparted through the proud name: Van Lang University.

The Journey to the Origin

Van Lang is also a rare university that launched the title Outstanding Students to inspire all students. The award of this title is a journey to study the Vietnamese ancestors. This meaningful activity has been organized since 1997 and become a tradition of Van Lang University. Every year, the excellent student delegation participates in the 12-day voyage to visit, study, and experience. In 2023, the activity inspired Party members, Trade Union members, and leaders.

Representatives for 26 generations of excellent students who have visited and studied at Hung Temple (Phu Tho) annually send their gratitude and wishes to Van Lang University on the 28th establishment anniversary.

From April 13, 2023, to April 16, 2023, a typical Van Lang University Trade Union officer took the "Journey to the Land of the Ancestors" trip to famous historical and cultural sites, preserving the Vietnamese nation's culture and long tradition. The tour gathered together typical Van Lang University Trade Union officials while also celebrating the 28th anniversary and welcoming the Trade Union Congress of Van Lang University for the period 2023-2028.

In 2023, the Hung Kings Commemorations took place with various activities, including a palanquin procession,  "The Legend of Au Lac" art performances, lion dance, traditional cuisine, and so on, to remind the younger generation of cultural values and ancestral roots. 

Over the past 28 years, the tradition of When you drink water, think of the source has contributed to the connection between generations at Van Lang University. Van Lang University has become one of the most prestigious private universities, with an extensive community of students and alumni. VLU has also effectively positioned itself as one of the inspirational universities with various well-known majors and prominent movement, academic, and community activities with a positive effect.
