Van Lang University listed in Global University Rankings for Sustainable Development

On the afternoon of June 12, 2024 (Vietnam time), Van Lang University was officially listed in the THE Impact Rankings 2024 - a global ranking on the implementation of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Notably, this is the first time Van Lang University has participated and has been honored to rank 800-1000 among the total of 2,152 higher education institutions from 125 countries around the world participating in the ranking.

The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2024 results

THE Impact Rankings is a ranking of higher education institutions implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) according to United Nations standards by the Times Higher Education, United Kingdoms.

On June 12, 2024, Van Lang University was officially ranked in THE Impact Rankings 2024, in the top 801 - 1000 in the world in terms of impact on global sustainable development. 

In this participation, Van Lang University has excelled by achieving rankings in all 17 SDGs, which few higher education institutions in Vietnam and the region have achieved. Particularly, the University led ahead of Vietnamese higher education institutions participating in the evaluation for SDG6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), rising to the global top 101-200 in this category. For SDG 6, Van Lang University is committed to "water conservation" through educational and communication activities, ensuring water quality through water source selection and periodic water quality monitoring. The university also focuses on research in the field of water treatment, aiming to contribute knowledge about removing pollutants from water, promoting wastewater reuse, positively contributing to protecting water resources and promoting sustainable development for the environment and community.

Van Lang University leads higher education institutions in Vietnam in the SDG6 goal.

For SDG12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), Van Lang University is in the top 401-600 of universities worldwide participating in this goal, reflecting the University's efforts in promoting responsible consumption and production practices, with initiatives on waste management, energy conservation and efficient resource use.

In addition, Van Lang University also appears in the top 401-600 of universities worldwide in other goals such as SDG2 (Zero Hunger), SDG8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG13 (Climate Action), SDG14 (Life Below Water), SDG15 (Life on Land).

The Olympic swimming pool system at Van Lang University uses modern filtering technology, increasing water reuse efficiency and saving water compared to pools of the same capacity in Vietnam.
Monitoring data on water usage per capita in 2022 at Van Lang University shows that water usage has decreased by 4% compared to the previous year (2021) and by 25% compared to 2018
In Sustainable Development Goal No. 4 - Quality Education, Van Lang University strives to train learners to become the best version of themselves through initiatives to promote lifelong learning, training programs integrating community activities, short-term training courses and diverse experience programs for students.
Van Lang University is committed to ensuring workers' rights, complying with Vietnam's Labor Law and implementing mechanisms to ensure these rights are enforced.

As of 2022, Van Lang University has signed MOUs/MOAs with over 255 partners from 24 countries, contributed 51,475 hours of community service from staff, lecturers, and employees, and had over 650 student projects implemented towards the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

In response to World Environment Day, on June 5, 2024, Van Lang University organized the "VLU joins hands for Sustainable Development Goals" action program.
