On September 30, 2024, the Faculty of Korean Language & Culture at Van Lang University, in collaboration with the Korean Language Center in Ho Chi Minh City, organized the opening ceremony of two programs: “Korean Language Teacher Training Program 2024” and the “Vietnamese-Korean Literature 2024 seminar.”
A new milestone in the training efforts of the Faculty of Korean Language & Culture at Van Lang University, this program is held in coordination with the Korean Language Center in Ho Chi Minh City and the Ministry of Education of South Korea. Van Lang University is the first non-public university to host such a program, alongside other universities in the central and northern regions of Vietnam. The program is significant, aligning with the goal of training Korean language teaching personnel for secondary and high schools in the southern region.
Participants in the course receive a 100% tuition waiver along with certificates upon completing the training. Additionally, they have the opportunity to participate in a free Korean language teaching certificate course and receive scholarships for short-term training in South Korea.
On September 30, 2024, the opening ceremony for the “Korean Language Teacher Training Program 2024” and the “Vietnamese-Korean Literature 2024 Seminar” was held at Van Lang University’s main campus.
The opening ceremony was attended by: Mr. Gil Ho Jin, Director of the Korean Language Center in Ho Chi Minh City, Ministry of Education of South Korea; Ms. Trinh Bich Ngan, President of the Ho Chi Minh City Writers' Association; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu, President of Van Lang University, along with lecturers who teach Korean language at universities.
In her opening remarks, Assoc. Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu, President of Van Lang University, expressed her high hopes: “Make the most of this learning opportunity to grow and become global citizens, strengthening the bonds of friendship between the two nations, while also promoting Vietnamese culture to the world and fostering deeper cooperation between Vietnam and South Korea.”
As the Director of the Korean Language Center in Ho Chi Minh City, he stated that the center will make efforts to teach Korean in secondary and high schools, offer quality projects such as cultural visits and experiences in South Korea, and actively promote training opportunities in Korea, enabling instructors to develop their expertise and build a solid foundation for Korean language education in Vietnam.
Ms. Trinh Bich Ngan, President of the Ho Chi Minh City Writers' Association – shared her joy in seeing Van Lang University affirm its position in education. Being selected as the host of this Korean language training program demonstrates the trust the community places in the university. On this occasion, the Writers' Association of Ho Chi Minh City gifted the participants two special literary works, serving as meaningful spiritual gifts for exploring Vietnamese literature.
Dr. To Minh Tung expressed high expectations for the participants. As the Vice Dean of the Faculty of International Languages and Cultures at Hong Bang International University, Dr. To Minh Tung hopes that after the program, the participants will become cultural ambassadors, proficient in Korean, and promote the image of Vietnam to international friends. He also encouraged them to seize this learning opportunity to discover new perspectives, broaden their horizons, and become dynamic, creative young individuals.
