On March 13, 2023, the delegation of Van Lang University (VLU) officially participated in the Asia-Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE) 2023). The event was held from 13-17 March 2023. It is the first time Van Lang has attended a prestigious international education exhibition event, attracting the attention of many countries.
Attending the event, the leadership delegations of Van Lang University included members: MSc. Bui Pham Lan Phuong, Vice President, Director of PMO; Dr. Ngo Quang Trung, Vice President, Director of the International Education Institute; Ms. Le Thi Minh Tam, Head of External Relations Department; Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Lan, Deputy Director of the International Student Support Centre and Mr. Doan Duy Thai Lam, Deputy Head of the Honors Program Department.
In the series of events before the exhibition, The VLU delegations took part in the ASEAN-Australia TNE Workshop, hosted by the Austrade, on March 13, 2023. MSc. Bui Pham Lan Phuong, Vice President of VLU, participated in the event as a panelist and spoke about current topics in transnational education between Vietnam and Australia in particular and between Asia-Pacific nations in general.
The conference has the participation of experts, including Mr. Michael Helleman, Senior Trade, and Investment Commissioner Bangkok; Ms. Melissa Banks, Head of International Education, Austrade; Ms. Phuong Bui, Vice President, Van Lang University, Vietnam; Dr. Laurene Chua-Garcia, Vice President for External Relations and Internationalization, De La Salle University, Manila, Philippines; Dr. Iman Harymawan, Director of Global Engagement, Universitas Airlangga, Indonesia; Mr. Han Xiao Zhang, Counsellor (Education and Research), Department of Education Jakarta, Indonesia; Professor Seth Kunin, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Global, Curtin University Australia; Associate Professor Nopraenue Sajjarax Dhirathiti, Vice President for International Relations and Corporate Communication, Mahidol University Thailand, and guests representing 23 universities in Australia and other prestigious universities with the world.
In recent years, the disruption of international students participating in exchange programs in Australia has increased due to the Covid-19 epidemic, leading to the demand for tightened cooperation between universities in the Asia-Pacific region. In the panel discussion, the guests discussed rebuilding the roadmap, implementing more activities to build the global education market, cooperation models, efforts, and expectations that TNE brings back to the community.
MSc. Bui Pham Lan Phuong mentioned a cooperation opportunity between Australian universities and Van Lang University through TNE: “Vietnam is a country with a young population that is a potential opportunity for Australian universities to cooperate in exchange and development international curriculum. Currently, the TNE model attracts the attention of many parents and students because of the valuable international learning experiences, the abundance of career prospects after graduation, and globally recognized qualifications.
The Asia-Pacific International Education Conference and Exhibition (APAIE) 2023 takes place from 13-17 March 2023, aiming to improve education by connecting prestigious universities with the world, enriching and promoting international programs, and stimulating international education in the Asia-Pacific region.
