Van Duy Phuc, a K29 Public Relations student at Van Lang University, has excellently secured the Third Prize at the National Finals of the 2024 Reading Culture Ambassador Contest organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.

The 2024 Reading Culture Ambassador Contest was launched in April 2024 and attracted nearly 1.7 million submissions from students across the country. Aimed at igniting a passion for reading and developing reading culture within the community, the contest provided participants with the opportunity to analyze their favorite books, compose, or propose practical initiatives. The award ceremony took place on October 24, 2024, in Viet Tri City (Phu Tho Province), where a total of 124 individual prizes and 15 collective prizes were awarded to outstanding individuals and groups.

Feeling happy and honored to receive the national Third Prize, Duy Phuc expressed that he was quite proud of his submission. He chose to present the inspiring book "Think Equal, Live Equal" (“Nghi binh dang, song binh dang”), highlighting the importance of gender equality in today’s society. For his initiative to promote reading among special audiences, he showcased a unique and humanistic perspective with the proposal for the project “Culture for Us - Great Books for You”  (“Van hoa trao tay - Sach hay trao ban”). Coming from his own experiences as an Hoa ethnic person, Duy Phuc's project is not merely about one-way book donations; it is inspired by the highland markets, where people can exchange quality books for unique handicrafts that reflect the cultural identity of their ethnic group and region.

The Third Prize at the National Reading Culture Ambassador Contest is a proud achievement for Duy Phuc.

Phuc has participated in this contest since high school, winning two First prizes at the provincial level and one consolation prize at the national level. Upon becoming a student at Van Lang University, he decided to join the contest again, achieving the national Third Prize in 2024. For Duy Phuc, reading is like a journey where one can explore, exchange, and spread knowledge within the community: “Reading culture is not something too grand; it starts from individuals. When each person spreads it gradually, a reading culture will form.”
