On the morning of April 18, 2025, over 500 students from the Faculty of Public Relations – Communications at Van Lang University attended a documentary screening of “Murdering the Mekong – Dam by dam” and engaged in a discussion with international director Tom Fawthrop, who has devoted many years to studying and working closely with the Mekong Subregion. The documentary offers a compelling perspective on environmental impacts, climate change, and the uncertain future of the Mekong River – a vital lifeline for millions in Southeast Asia.

Drawing from years of firsthand experience, he expressed his hope for more initiatives and programs aimed at sustainable development in the Mekong region. He also encouraged VLU students to take the initiative in exploring and researching water-related issues – a key to understanding the critical role of ecosystems in both human life and national development.
