Leveraging their knowledge of language, culture, and traditions of China from their specialized Chinese Studies program, students found inspiration for the 'Hanfu Festival' program in the three wishes of the poem “Truong Menh Nu” by Xuan Nhat Yen. They seamlessly integrated these aspirations with the folklore surrounding the Qixi Festival, a significant day in Chinese heritage, all under the overarching theme “As Desired”, signifying the collective hope for everyone's wishes to be granted.

During the program, the students brought a love story on stage that captured the special interest of the audience. The play, The Cowherd and the Weaver Girl, themed around “Qixi Festival” was delivered in a unique and comical manner. The careful attention to the script and the visually stunning Hanfu costumes made a lasting impression on the audience.

While attending the program, students enjoyed not only the outstanding performances but also had the opportunity to partake in interactive cultural booths hosting a range of activities meticulously prepared by the organizers. Alongside donning exquisite traditional Hanfu and savoring tea, artistic paper cutting and origami also piqued the interest of a considerable number of students.

The 2023 Hanfu Festival program, themed “As Desired”, has provided passionate students with an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Eastern culture, allowing them to develop a more profound appreciation for the traditional heritage of China in general and the specific realm of Chinese Hanfu attire.
