On June 24, 2023, the Faculty of Law of Van Lang University organized the Workshop "Corporate law and intellectual property issues in modern commercial activities in Vietnam", providing more opportunities to connect with experts for Law students, helping them to grasp information about the reality of commercial activities in Vietnam.
The workshop had the attendance of the board of directors and lecturers of the Faculty of Law, including Assoc. Dr. Bui Anh Thuy - Dean of the Faculty of Law, Dr. GVC. Vu Thi Thuy - Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law, MSc. Dinh Le Oanh - Deputy Head of the Department of Civil Law, Dr. Nguyen Tat Thanh - Deputy Head of the Department of Criminal Law, MSc. GVC Nguyen Thi Yen - Deputy Head of the Department of International Commercial Law, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Quang Thinh - Head of the Department of Administrative Law, MSc. Tran Minh Toan - Deputy Head of the Department of Commercial Law and a group of Law and Economic Law students.
Two guest speakers participating in the exchange with students were MSc. Prof. Hoang Thi Thanh Huyen - Director of the SOLIS Hanoi law firm and MSc. LS Le Hong Duong – General Legal Director of Hung Thinh Corporation.
At the beginning of the workshop, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Anh Thuy - Dean of the Faculty of Law shared: “The Faculty of Law is hosting this workshop event to provide the students a chance to exchange and converse face-to-face with two reputable experts, thereby obtaining more practical knowledge. This will be the basis for you to choose the right direction for yourself and pursue the career that you love in the future.”
Within the framework of the event, the speakers introduced and discussed with the students about the topic of corporate law and intellectual property. These are considered to be the directions of interest nowadays.
According to MSc. LL.B. Le Hong Duong, currently, corporate law is a new direction for law students. With the current trend of development and globalization of modern businesses, corporate law will play a crucial role as it helps businesses prevent and limit legal risks. This is likely to be an attractive path for young individuals.
According to MSc. LL.B. Hoang Thi Thanh Huyen, intellectual property in e-commerce is available everywhere because online shopping and selling activities in general and buying and selling on social networks in particular are increasingly popular. Although it brings numerous opportunities for businesses, this activity will have potential risks of counterfeit goods, affecting the brand of business units. Therefore, businesses now need the advice of lawyers to limit and prevent negative cases related to intellectual property rights.
After summarizing the information shared by the speakers, students of the Faculty of Law enthusiastically exchanged with experts and lecturers of the faculty about topics such as how to choose the right career, how to register for trademark protection, branding, franchising and necessary soft skills to help students in their profession.
Hopefully, the workshop has given the students more information and self-assurance to make the best career decision in the future.
